The Bubble Shield or Aqua Shield(アクアバリア Akua Baria?, lit. "Water Barrier"), is a large shield shaped like a water bubble. When the player breaks the item box with the water-drop symbol, he/she will be able to breathe infinitely underwater, perform a bounce attack, block regular projectiles, and able to move on the water's surface without sinking. The Bubble Shield can be lost to the player if he/she hit by an enemy or obstacle. This item made its first appearance in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
