Flicky(フリッキー Furikkī?) is the iconic animal friend of the Sonic franchise. Flicky is also the protagonist of its own video game called Flicky; the classic Sega arcade game released before Sonic the Hedgehog(game).[1] When the Flickies officially debuted in Sonic the Hedgehog(game), they served as organic batteries for Dr.Eggman's machines known as Badniks. They, along with other animal friends, are trapped inside Capsules which are usually seen at the end of the third Act of the game. This aspect transcended into the following games like Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. In Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Flickies also assisted Tails after he transforms into Super Tails. Although their role began to fluctuate between Sonic games, Flickies continue to reoccur. The latest game to feature Flicky is Sonic Lost World.

Role in Sonic 3D Blast

In Sonic 3D Blast, Flickies are the prominent focus of the game's plot. Besides the standard role of being used as organic batteries like in previous games, there are a special breed of Flickies who inhabit their own island. These Flickies have the ability to travel to different dimensions with the use of Giant Rings. Each one contains a different hue and its own trait of how it behaves if Sonic is hit by a hazard or badnik. Below lists the colorful Flickies in the game.

Blue Flicky

Blue Flickies are the only Flickies to consciously make an effort to find Sonic if they are separated from him. If they cannot find Sonic, the Blue Flickies will fly around in a centered circle; making them the easiest to locate.

Pink Flickies behave similarly to the blue ones, but fly around in large circles if they cannot find Sonic.

Red Flicky

Red Flickies constantly move between two close points and do not make an effort to find Sonic. Although their range of movement is small, they can jump very high; thus, making them difficult to catch.

Green Flicky

Green Flickies wander around randomly with no interest in finding Sonic; they even appear to sometimes avoid Sonic.

In Sonic Adventure, a Flicky name Birdie is the primary aspect of Amy's storyline. Birdie is searching for its missing family, which Amy agrees to help find. It is also targeted by Dr.Eggman and its machines due to the Chaos Emerald it contains.
